CORPUS CHRISTI - Long-time Hooks Spanish language broadcaster Eduardo Becerra passed away over the weekend.
Becerra's family notified the ball club Monday and said he will be laid to rest this afternoon in Reynosa.
Becerra called Hooks home games on iHeartMEDIA's 1400-AM KUNO La Tremenda from 2007-17. Spanish home game broadcasts during the first two seasons of Hooks Baseball were found on La Mejor 105.5 FM.
"Eduardo was a talented, positive, passionate ambassador for Hooks Baseball," team president Ken Schrom said. "He was always an uplifting person to be around. His family members and friends are in our thoughts and prayers."
Becerra also served as play-by-play man for three Mexican League teams: the Monterrey Sultans, Monclova Steelers, and Reynosa Broncos. In addition, the Monterrey native covered Little League World Series action from Williamsport, Pa., for Mexican radio.
