Hauschild Named TL Pitcher of the Week

May 19, 2014

CORPUS CHRISTI - Hooks right-handed pitcher Michael Hauschild earned Texas League Pitcher of the Week honors for May 12-18, league president Tom Kayser announced Monday.

Hauschild, promoted to Corpus Christi from Advanced-A Lancaster May 9, made his first two Double-A starts and did not factor into either decision. He pitched 12 innings and allowed one earned run on four hits with one walk and 11 strikeouts.

In each game the 24-year-old right-hander pitched 4 2/3 perfect innings before yielding his first opposing baserunner. May 12 at San Antonio, Hauschild gave up a two-out single in the fourth inning to Missions catcher Austin Hedges and Sunday against Midland at Whataburger Field, he walked third baseman Jefry Marte before allowing his first, and only, Texas League run.

Hauschild pitched in eight games, four starts, for Lancaster and went 2-1 with a 4.41 earned run average in 34 2/3 innings. The Astros selected him in the 33rd round of the 2012 draft out of the University of Dayton.
