CORPUS CHRISTI - Where'd that cool blast come from?

Here we sit on April 24 in the mid-50s at mid-day. Whoever heard of such a thing?

Ah… but by the time your Corpus Christi Hooks return to Whataburger Field next Tuesday, it'll be back in the low- to mid-80s!

That's not the only reason to make a game at 734 East Port April 30-May 3. Here's a look at it all, night-by-night:

Tuesday, April 30, Midland RockHounds @ Hooks, 7:05 p.m. (gates open 5:30)
•Half-Price Group Night, presented by AutoNation; call 361-561-HOOK (4665) to learn more.
•If you're a member of Hooks Nation, Kleberg Bank Social Media Night brings $5 reserved-seat tickets.
•It's Aransas Pass Night with discounted tickets for AP residents. Show your photo ID at the box office or if you have a group of 20-plus, call Andy Steavens at 361-561-4677.
•Champion of the Homestand is CCFD Officer John Keller, who'll throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Wednesday, May 1, RockHounds @ Hooks, 7:05 p.m. (gates open 5:30)
•Whataburger Family Day, buy a ticket for yourself and get your kid's ticket free!
•Donate your gently-used Hooks clothing item to Goodwill near the main gates at the giant Whataburger fry box. In exchange, you'll get a new Hooks t-shirt, ticket voucher and special Whataburger coupon offer!
•Stroke Awareness Night; visit the information table on the concourse.

•The first 2,500 fans take home a Dave Clark Garden Gnome from CPL Retail Energy. Dave was the Hooks' first manager (2005-07); now he's first-base coach of the Houston Astros.
•The Hooks wear blue camo jerseys; a postgame on-line auction benefits the USO.
•Thirsty Thursday (discounted soda and beer), from Stripes.
•After 8:30 a.m. on the 4th, go to the Stripes Facebook Page at www.facebook.com/stripesstores to learn the Stripes Thirsty Thursday Word of the Day. Later that day or night, repeat the word at the Whataburger Field box office and receive a free Hooks Thirsty Thursday reserved-seat or general admission ticket for each Thirsty Thursday ticket purchased.
