Parker Walk-Off Powers Tulsa

Drillers hit three home runs to erase two-run deficit
April 15, 2013

TULSA, OK - Kyle Parker belted a home run to right field in the ninth inning Monday afternoon as Tulsa clinched a series victory over the Hooks with a 3-2 walk-off triumph at ONEOK Field.

Corpus Christi, bolstered by a pair of early runs, cruised through the first six innings thanks to excellent pitching.  Asher Wojciechowski tossed five shutout frames, holding the Drillers to four hits.  He fanned three and did not walk a batter, throwing 41 of 58 pitches for strikes.   Wojciechowski has not allowed a run in 14 innings this season.

David Martinez pitched a perfect sixth before facing Henry Wrigley to open the seventh.  Wrigley fell behind 1-2 and then launched a home run to left field, his second round-tripper of the series.

Angelys Nina joined the act in the eighth, notching his first long ball of the year, a one-out solo shot to right off Jorge De Leon to tie the game at 2.

Andrew Robinson, who recorded the final out in the eighth, walked Kiel Roling to begin the ninth.  Roling was lifted for pinch-runner Delta Cleary, Jr., who was promptly picked off first base by catcher Carlos Perez.  Enter Parker.  The former Clemson football star turned a 2-2 breaking ball into Tulsa's second walk-off win of the season.

The Hooks look to salvage the series Tuesday night at 7:05.  Ruben Alaniz (0-0, 5.40) and Matt Heidenreich (1-1, 7.20) face Tulsa's Christian Bergman (0-0, 0.79).
