Thirty-Four Runs Scored in Day Two of South Texas Baseball Classic
Every player to step to the plate for St. Cloud State (1-1) had either a hit or a run scored as the Huskies blasted Loyola-New Orleans 11-6, despite five team errors, in game three of the Holiday Inn Emerald Beach South Texas Baseball Classic Saturday at Whataburger Field.
Designated hitter Michael Jurgella led the way for the visitors from Minnesota with a 2-for-5 day at the plate and three runs batted in. Travis Enger, Eric Loxtercamp and Steve Rindelaub added two hits each for the Huskies. Carmelo LoSauro drove in two runs for the Wolf Pack (3-7).
For St. Cloud State, starter Nick Maiers and the first man out of the bullpen Adam Harlander (1-0), tossed four innings a piece before Reese Gregory tossed a perfect ninth to close the game. Tony Asta (0-1) started and took the loss for Loyola-New Orleans after he allowed seven runs, four earned, in three and two-thirds innings pitched.

Southeastern Oklahoma State's ninth-inning rally came up one run short, as the Savage Storm (2-1) dropped game five of the South Texas Baseball Classic to host Texas A&M-Kingsville 9-8. The Javelinas (5-2) broke the game open with a six-run sixth inning, before the Savage Storm posted a five-run ninth.
Matt Rhodes (1-0) started for the Javelinas and went six innings, allowing two earned runs on three hits with eight strikeouts. Vance Woodruff started and lost for Southeastern Oklahoma State, allowing three runs in three innings pitched, though he did stay in the game as the designated hitter and homered into the pool in right center field.
