Hillsboro Hops Executive Vice President & General Manager KL Wombacher Voted 2013 NWL Executive of the Year

Wombacher Spearheaded Hops Move to Hillsboro & Construction of New State-of-the-Art Ballpark
September 26, 2013

Hillsboro, OR (September 26, 2013) - The Hillsboro Hops (@HillsboroHops) announced today that team Executive Vice President and General Manager KL Wombacher (@WomboKL) was voted Executive of the Year by his peers in the Northwest League. This is Wombacher's second Executive of the Year award, having been selected for the honor in 2008 as General Manager of the Yakima Bears.

The award acknowledges the totality of Wombacher's efforts in a very hectic year in which he oversaw the team's move from Yakima to Hillsboro, the team's interests in the construction of a new state-of-the-art ballpark, the creation of a new award-winning team brand (Named pro baseball's Top Brand/Logo for 2013 by Ballpark Digest) and leading the Hops sales staff in setting an all-time franchise record for tickets sold in a season (135,167 energetic fans for 38 home games).

The Hops also established themselves as an integral component of the Hillsboro community as well as a regional asset to baseball starved fans in the Portland metropolitan area. "I am humbled to accept this award on behalf of our entire front office," said KL Wombacher. "Our first year success has been a true team effort. To be recognized by fellow executives in a league as special as the Northwest League is quite an honor."
