Heading into the night of August 23rd at Eugene, the Hops had won six straight games, they were 17-11 in the second half of the season --- the Northwest League's best record --- and they had a one game lead in the South Division with 10 games left in the year.
This one was gift-wrapped by a Eugene relief pitcher, and the Hops had the first series sweep in franchise history.
