Bowling Green, KY -- On Saturday, the Bowling Green Hot Rods clinched their second straight playoff berth with a 5-0 win over the South Bend Cubs at Bowling Green Ballpark.
For their third straight win after ten consecutive losses, a trio of Hot Rods pitchers combined for a second shutout in three days.

Starter Willy Ortiz (W, 8-3) tossed five scoreless innings while righty Orlando Romero came through with three shutout frames before Joe Serrapica gave the Hot Rods the celebration with a scoreless ninth inning.
From an offensive perspective, the Hot Rods scored their first two runs in the third inning on a two-run double by catcher Rene Pinto against Cubs starter Tyson Miller (L, 7-7).
Bowling Green went on to score a run in the fifth when infielder Miles Mastrobuoni singled, stole second, advanced to third on a sac bunt and was later plated on a wild pitch.
They scored their final two runs in the seventh and eighth innings respectively with a sacrifice fly from outfielder Garrett Whitley and a RBI single from first basemen Bobby Melley

Overall, the Hot Rods bats have scored 31 runs on 49 hits in their last four games and have outscored their opponents 23-4 during their current three-game win streak.
