Wilmington, Del. (Sept. 8, 2022) – In an historic night at Frawley Stadium, four Hudson Valley Renegades pitchers combined to shut out the Wilmington Blue Rocks, 8-0.

With a solo home run in the top of the sixth, Tyler Hardman tied the Hudson Valley franchise record for most home runs in a single season. His 22nd long ball of the year draws even with the mark set by Dan Grummitt during the 1999 season.

Edgar Barclay (7-4) opened the shutout with a season-high 5.0 innings of two-hit ball. The southpaw struck out six and did not issue a walk as he lowered his season ERA to 1.74.

Hudson Valley struck early with three runs in the top of the first against Rodney Theophile (1-7). T.J. Rumfield brought in Anthony Seigler with an infield single for the opening tally, and two more scored on fielder’s choices. Seigler finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two walks.

The Renegades added another on a Jasson Dominguez triple in the second, and tacked on three against Andrew Alvarez in the fifth as the Blue Rocks committed two errors in the frame.

Hardman led off the sixth with his record-tying blast, a fly ball tucked just inside the foul pole down the left field line off Miguel Gomez to grow the lead to 8-0.

Bailey Dees, Enrique Santana and Carlos Gomez combined for 4.0 innings out of the bullpen to close out the victory.

The triumph was the 10th shutout thrown by Hudson Valley this season, and was the 71st win of the year, matching the total from the 2021 Renegades.

The Renegades continue their series with the Blue Rocks on Friday night at Frawley Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Hudson Valley calls on RHP Blane Abeyta (5-7, 4.28) for the start, while Wilmington answers with RHP Michael Cuevas (6-12, 4.50).
