Five Renegades Named to All-Star Team

Four Position Players and One Pitcher to Represent Hudson Valley Tuesday

WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY-Five Hudson Valley Renegades have been named to the 2018 New York-Penn League All-Star Team and will play for the North squad during Tuesday's exhibition in State College, PA.
Catcher Chris Betts is named to the squad after hitting .264 in 39 games with eight homers and 30 RBI, which are a team lead. His eight dingers are second-most in the NYPL. He is also leads the team in slugging at .500 and is second on the team in OPS at .835.
Infielder Tyler Frank has probably been the most-consistent of all Renegades. The Florida Atlantic alum is hitting .281 with 18 RBI. He leads the team in on-base-percentage (.428) and OPS (.850). He is also tied for the team lead in games played at 39 with Betts. He has also garnered team-highs in walks (26) and runs (30), while striking out only 19 times in 135 at-bats.
The lone pitcher to make the All-Star Team for the Renegades in reliever Jack Labosky. The right-hander went 3-1 with a 2.33 ERA in 12 relief appearances with one save. Out of Duke University, Labosky has allowed only seven earned runs over 27 innings with 26 strikeouts and five walks.
After a slow start, first-baseman Jacson McGowan makes the team after batting .263 for the season. After hitting only .151 on July 5th, McGowan went on two hitting streaks to turn his season around. He went on a seven-game streak that ended on July 17th. After going hitless in the next game, McGowan proceeded to go on an 11-game stretch, which is a season-high for all Renegades.
Designated hitter Erik Ostberg leads the Renegades in hitting at a .317 clip with 33 hits in 104 at-bats. The back-up catcher led the NCAA in hitting with a .500 average at the University of Hartford in 2017 before an injury shelved him for the rest of the season in mid-April. He has also drawn 17 walks, which is third-most on the club.
The Renegades now head up the road for a three-games series against the Tri-City ValleyCats beginning tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. Southpaw Blake Pflughaupt (2-2, 3.08 ERA) will take the hill for Hudson Valley against righty Devin Conn (0-0, 1.64 ERA) for Tri-City.
Hudson Valley returns home on Saturday when they kickoff a two-game series and homestand against the Aberdeen Ironbirds.
