GADES RALLY TO SPOIL CYCLONES’ PARTY

BROOKLYN, NY (May 18, 2021) – The Brooklyn Cyclones played in front of their home fans for the first time since they won the final NY-Penn League Championship in 2019. The visiting Hudson Valley Renegades dampened the enthusiasm with a 4-3 win on Tuesday night.

Earlier in the day, the Cyclones rechristened their stadium as Maimonides Park to add to the festive atmosphere.

The Gades (7-6) moved over the .500 mark for the first time this season and have their first two-game winning streak.

Down 1-0 in the top of the sixth, the Gades got their first hit of the night on a single by Isaiah Pasteur. Kyle MacDonald followed with a two-run home run – his first hit of the year – to give Hudson Valley a two-run lead.

Brooklyn regained the lead in the bottom of the seventh but MacDonald drove in his third run of the night to tie the game in the eighth. MacDonald drove in Pasteur, who had walked to start the inning and stole a base.

Ezequiel Duran led off the ninth with a single. He stole second and came around to score the game-winning run on a double by Pablo Olivares.

Hayden Wesneski got the start for the Gades and pitched into the fifth, allowing an unearned run and striking out five. Zach Greene went the rest of the way to get the win and even his record at 1-1. Andrew Edwards (0-1) took the loss for Brooklyn.

The two teams meet again on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
