Lakewood, N.J. (July 6, 2022) – The Hudson Valley Renegades set two franchise records while stealing 11 bases in a 9-3 win over the Jersey Shore BlueClaws on Wednesday at ShoreTown Ballpark. The Renegades were a perfect 11-for-11 on stolen base attempts in the game.

The 11 steals are the most in a single game by a South Atlantic League team since Rome stole 10 bases against the Charleston RiverDogs on July 1, 2013. No SAL team has stolen 11 bases in the Portal Era (2005 – present). Anthony Seigler led the way with four steals in the game.

Not only did the club set a new single-game stolen base record, but with a total of 153 on the season, they set a new single-season steals record in just the 77th game of the year.

The tone was set early, with Hudson Valley stealing three bases in the top of the first against Rafael Marcano. Trey Sweeney was hit by the second pitch of the game and stole second. After a walk, Sweeney and Cooper Bowman executed a double steal. Later in the frame, Seigler brought in a run with a double play groundout to give the Renegades a 1-0 lead.

Jersey Shore tied it up in the bottom of the second against Matt Sauer, when Carlos De La Cruz doubled and came home on a double steal of second and home with D.J. Stewart.

The Gades utilized the stolen base to plate a run in the fourth against Marcano. Seigler led off with a single, then stole second, third and home to take a 2-1 lead. The steal of home was part of a double steal with James Nelson heading to second.

Baron Radcliff hit a solo home run off Sauer in the fifth to tie the game at 2-2.

In the seventh, Carlos Narvaez doubled and stole third base for the Renegades’ eighth steal of the game and 150th of the season, setting a new single-season team record, surpassing the mark set in 2021. Hudson Valley went on to steal four bases in the inning, scoring three runs on a three-run double by Everson Pereira to take a 5-2 lead.

The Renegades added on four more runs in the top of the eighth against J.P. Woodward, with Narvaez and Bowman picking up RBIs in the process. Narvaez finished 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI.

Edgar Barclay (4-2) tossed 3.1 scoreless innings of relief, and Alex Mauricio allowed a run in the ninth to close out the win.

Hudson Valley continues its series with Jersey Shore on Thursday night at ShoreTown Ballpark. The Renegades send RHP Blas Castano (2-6, 3.20) to the mound, while the BlueClaws counter with RHP Dominic Pipkin (1-2, 7.04). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m., with coverage beginning at 6:45 on the Renegades Baseball Network.
