WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. (July 28, 2022) — The Hudson Valley Renegades rallied for four runs in the bottom of the eighth to knock off the Brooklyn Cyclones 5-2 on Thursday night at Dutchess Stadium. Hudson Valley jumped in front in the bottom of the second against Brooklyn starter Carson Seymour.

WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. (July 28, 2022) — The Hudson Valley Renegades rallied for four runs in the bottom of the eighth to knock off the Brooklyn Cyclones 5-2 on Thursday night at Dutchess Stadium.

Hudson Valley jumped in front in the bottom of the second against Brooklyn starter Carson Seymour. Grant Richardson laced an RBI single to give the Renegades a 1-0 lead.

Jhonatan Muñoz shined in his first start of the season, tossing 2.2 shutout innings, surrendering only one hit, walking two and striking out three. Over his last nine appearances, Muñoz has a 1.06 ERA across 17 innings, walking seven and striking out 18 over that span.

Seymour quickly settled in and fired six excellent innings for Brooklyn, allowing only one run on four hits, walking three and striking out nine.

The Cyclones grabbed the lead against Shawn Semple behind Alex Ramirez, who slammed an opposite-field solo homer in the fourth, and an RBI single in the sixth to put Brooklyn in front 2-1.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Renegades stormed back to take the lead against Sammy Tavarez (2-1). Jasson Domínguez walked, Eric Wagaman reached on an error, and Richardson was hit by a pitch to set up a bases-loaded, one-out threat.

James Nelson knocked an RBI single to tie it, Pat DeMarco lifted a go-ahead sacrifice fly, Richardson raced home a wild pitch, and Eduardo Torrealba drilled an RBI single up the middle to spot Hudson Valley a 5-2 edge.

Carlos Gomez (1-2) earned the win and shut the door, hurling three shutout innings, permitting only one hit, striking out three and walking none.

Hudson Valley continues its series with Brooklyn on Friday night at Dutchess Stadium. RHP Jose Panacual (2-2, 4.14) takes the ball for the Renegades, while the Cyclones counter with RHP Dominic Hamel (1-0, 3.21). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Coverage begins on the Renegades Baseball Network at 6:45.
