Lockwood Does It Again

Wappingers Falls, NY (7/12/14)-Hunter Lockwood hit his third walk-off homerun of the season on Saturday night, defeating the Batavia Muckdogs 12-10 in eleven innings at Dutchess Stadium. In a game that featured 22 total runs and 36 combined hits, Hudson Valley improves to 22-7 overall with the win. They are 14-2 at Dutchess Stadium and hold the best overall record in the New York-Penn League. Lockwood's homerun was his ninth of the season, matching his 2013 total with the Princeton Rays.

Down 4-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning, the Renegades scored seven runs on eight hits and one walk, taking a 7-4 lead. They sent 10 batters to the plate in the bottom half, to record their largest offensive inning this season.

With the game tied at ten going into the bottom of the eleventh, Casey Gillaspie walked to set the scene for Hunter Lockwood. He homered over the wall in left-field, sending the Renegades home winners for the tenth straight time in their home ballpark.

Offensively, Hudson Valley topped their season high seventeen hits against the Cyclones on July 9, with nineteen against the Muckdogs. Eight out of the nine batters in their lineup reached with a base-knock, and seven out of the nine had at least two hits. Eight hitters also drove in at least one run in their seventh extra-inning game of 2014.

Bralin Jackson led the team in hits going 4-5, as Braxton Lee and Hunter Lockwood each added three, and four others had two. Those four being Alec Sole, Coty Blanchard, Casey Gillaspie and Jace Conrad. Zach Marberry picked up the other hit and finished 1-3 offensively.

Hudson Valley's .265 team batting average is good for third in the league, and their 2.75 ERA is the lowest of all fourteen teams. Hunter Lockwood's nine homeruns are good for second in the NYPL, and his 25 RBI's leave him tied for second.

Notes: After a nine game winning streak earlier in the season, the Renegades have put together a current five game streak. They lead the McNamara Division by seven games over the Brooklyn Cyclones in first place, and are the first team in the league to reach 21 wins.
