BROOKLYN, N.Y. (May 19, 2022) Behind a dominant performance from Matt Sauer, the Hudson Valley Renegades bounced back for a 3-1 win over the Brooklyn Cyclones on Thursday night at Maimonides Park.

Sauer (1-1) fired 7.1 brilliant innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out nine and walking none. The right-hander needed only 81 pitches to complete the longest outing by a Renegades pitcher this season.

Hudson Valley jumped out to a lead in the top of the fifth against Brooklyn starter Garrison Bryant (1-1). Eduardo Torrealba banged an RBI double and Aaron Palensky singled him home to make it 2-0 Renegades.

Brooklyn struck back in the bottom of the sixth on a Joe Suozzi solo homer to cut the deficit to 2-1.

The Renegades plated an insurance run in the top of the ninth. Spencer Henson and Carlos Narvaez both singled to start the inning, and Pat DeMarco grounded into a double play with the bases loaded to extend the lead to 3-1.

Alex Mauricio recorded the final five outs to earn his second save, allowing only one hit, striking out three and walking one.

Hudson Valley continues its six-game series with Brooklyn tomorrow night at Maimonides Park. RHP Beck Way (1-1, 6.86) takes the ball for the Renegades, while the Cyclones counter with RHP Daison Acosta (0-4, 7.88). First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. with pregame coverage beginning on the Renegades Baseball Network at 6:45.
