With baseball season in full swing, “Flicks at Victory Field” steps into the batter’s box for three nights this summer. Gates open at 6:00 PM with showtimes at 7:00 PM for all three dates. Limited $5 parking (cash only) will be available in the Victory Field parking lot. General admission seating bowl tickets are $10 while on-field tickets are $15.
The first movie is scheduled for Thursday, July 29. If you play it, they will come. Field of Dreams, a baseball movie classic, is based in small town Iowa with a farmer – played by Kevin Costner – who is convinced from hearing voices that leveling his crop and building a baseball field in its place will bring back ghosts from baseball’s past.
On Friday, Aug. 20, Rookie of the Year makes its way to the Victory Field video board. Henry Rowengartner – a little league benchwarmer – breaks his arm and suddenly finds himself with a triple-digit heater that leads him to the Wrigley Field mound with the Chicago Cubs. Can he lead the Northsiders to a pennant?
The last flick of the summer season, Bull Durham, will air at Victory Field on Thursday, Sept. 23. The baseball film features Kevin Costner and tells the story of a veteran catcher on the tail end of his career, who teaches an up-and-coming rookie pitcher the ins and outs to reach the major leagues.
The Victory Field playing surface can accommodate 800 people on a first-come first-served basis with pricing at $15 per ticket. Picnic blankets, tarps and lawn chairs are permitted for on-field guests.
