Miguel Yajure’s Gem Shuts Down St. Paul, 2-0

INDIANAPOLIS ­– Miguel Yajure and the bullpen held the St. Paul Saints scoreless to lead the Indianapolis Indians to a 2-0 victory on Friday night at Victory Field.

INDIANAPOLIS ­– Miguel Yajure and the bullpen held the St. Paul Saints scoreless to lead the Indianapolis Indians to a 2-0 victory on Friday night at Victory Field.

With two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning, Bligh Madris doubled to center field to score Michael Chavis and put the Indians (55-62) on the board, 1-0.

Indy added another run in the bottom of the sixth inning with an RBI single to center field by Ethan Paul to score Diego Castillo and extend their lead to 2-0.

Yajure (W, 2-3) and the Indians bullpen shut down the Saints (61-57) offense to keep them off the scoreboard. Yajure earned the win with his third quality start this season throwing six scoreless innings with six strikeouts. Joe Jacques, Shea Spitzbarth and Tyler Bashlor (S, 6) combined to throw three scoreless innings. Edgar Garcia (L, 4-1) took the loss after giving up two runs on three hits in two innings of work.

The Indians will face St. Paul again on Saturday night at 7:05 PM ET. LHP Bryan Sammons (1-2, 5.49) will take the mound for the Saints. Indy’s starting pitcher has yet to be named.
