INDIANAPOLIS - The Indianapolis Indians, in conjunction with the International League, today announced left-hander Brandon Waddell as the IL Pitcher of the Week for the week of July 9-15. Waddell struck out a career-high nine batters over seven scoreless innings against IL West Division-leading Toledo on July 13 at Victory Field.

The 24-year-old southpaw shut down one of the league's best offenses en route to an 8-0 victory, limiting the Mud Hens to two hits and one walk. He fanned at least one batter in each of his seven innings pitched. The outing was his second straight of seven frames, both victories.
The Texas native is 4-4 with a 5.19 ERA (20 ER/34.2 IP) in 10 games (six starts) for the Tribe this season.
The weekly honor is the third of Waddell's professional career, the other two coming in 2016. He was the Florida State League Pitcher of the Week on May 2 and the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week on June 27 that summer.
Indy is now tied for second in the IL in weekly awards won this season. Tribe pitcher Nick Kingham also won the IL Pitcher of the Week Award on April 16 and June 18, and Kevin Newman was named as IL Player of the Week on May 14.
