INDIANAPOLIS - Tyler Eppler's dominance at Victory Field continued Tuesday afternoon with six scoreless innings in a 4-0 shutout of the Syracuse Chiefs. Kevin Kramer paced a double-happy offense with his first three-hit game of the season in the win.

Indianapolis (9-7) used a pair of two-run frames in the second and fourth en route to their second consecutive shutout and third overall in 2018. Kramer and Jacob Stallings drilled back-to-back one-out singles ahead of a Jerrick Suiter two-run double down the left field line in the second that put Indy on top, 2-0.
Two innings later, Eric Wood one-hopped the center field wall for a leadoff double, and Kramer followed suit with an opposite-field double to extend Indy's lead. Kramer then took third on a flyout to right and was later awarded 90 additional feet thanks to a Tommy Milone (L, 1-1) balk, providing the final 4-0 margin.
Eppler (W, 2-1) kept Syracuse (10-7) in check from the get-go, recording two of his five punchouts in the opening frame. He was perfect until José Marmolejos doubled to the right-center alley with two down in the fourth.
The Chiefs put two runners on in their next at-bat, but a strikeout and slow chopper back to Eppler got him through five innings unscathed. He then faced the minimum in the sixth, using a 6-3 double play turned by Kramer to record his first quality start of the season.
Eppler improved to 8-1 with a 2.33 ERA (22 ER/85.0 IP) in 16 games (13 starts) all-time at Victory Field.
Five of Indianapolis' eight hits went as doubles, extending their league lead to 39 two-baggers through 16 games.
A.J Schugel tossed two shutout innings in his second rehab appearance with the Tribe. The Indians allowed a season-low four hits in the triumph.
The Indians and Chiefs conclude their three-game set on Wednesday, April 25 at Victory Field, with first pitch set for 1:35 p.m. Right-hander Clay Holmes (0-0, 4.50) gets the nod for the Tribe, opposite Syracuse righty Erick Fedde (1-0, 1.80).
