Meadows Tops Baseball America's Pirates Prospects

Outfielder is expected to begin 2017 with the Tribe
December 16, 2016

INDIANAPOLIS - Austin Meadows sits atop Baseball America's rankings of the Pittsburgh Pirates' prospects for 2017, the publication announced today. The outfielder is one of five top-10 talents to have suited up for the Indianapolis Indians last season.

Meadows hit .311 and slugged .611 with Double-A Altoona last season before making his Triple-A debut on June 18. He hit safely in a Curve-record 24 straight games before the promotion, extending the streak to 26 before it was snapped.

Injuries plagued the Atlanta, Ga., native for much of his time with Indy, but he slugged 16 of his 27 hits for the Tribe for extra bases. He is expected to begin the 2017 season with Indianapolis once again.

Other Indianapolis Indians in the top 10 include Tyler Glasnow (3), Josh Bell (4), Steven Brault (7), and Elias Diaz (10). Brault leapt eight spots from 15 in last year's rankings. The Tribe saw 12 players make their major league debuts in 2016, the most since beginning affiliation with the Pirates in 2005.
