Tribe Posts MiLB's Best Attendance

Tribe Draws 637,579 to Lead All of MiLB in Overall Attendance
September 5, 2013

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indianapolis Indians have concluded the regular season with the highest overall attendance among all 160 Minor League Baseball Clubs. The Tribe welcomed a total of 637,579 fans (average of 8,980 per game) through the turnstiles during the 2013 campaign, the fourth-largest total in Victory Field history and the best single-season attendance since the team's championship campaign in 2000.

The Indians incredible accomplishment was paced by their record-setting eight sellouts on the season, which surpasses the team's previous high mark of six sellouts in 1997. Victory Field hosted more than 14,230 fans on all eight of the capacity games, including reaching the sellout mark four times in a five-game span on July 4, 13, 26 and 27. That five-game stretch also featured the Tribe's largest crowd of the 2013 season, when 15,012 patrons packed the ballpark on July 26 for the largest single-game attendance since Sept. 5, 2009.

Indianapolis concluded the year averaging more than 10,000 fans per game since the beginning of May (55 games), more than 10,500 fans per game since the start of June (43 games) and more than 11,000 fans in each of their last 24 home contests, dating back to their July 4th celebration. The stellar stretch of attendance capped off the 2013 record-setting season in which Victory Field hosted 25 crowds of 10,000 or more patrons.

Following their successful 2013 campaign, the Indians began the International League Governor's Cup Playoffs last night with a Game 1 loss to the IL South champion Bulls. Indianapolis will now play Game 2 in Durham tonight before returning to Victory Field tomorrow (Sept. 6) for a guaranteed Game 3 at 7:05 p.m. If neither team has won three contests in the best-of-five series through Friday, the Tribe will host Games 4 and 5 as necessary on Sept. 7 and 8, both at 7:05 p.m.

The Tribe will kick off its playoff celebration during Friday's guaranteed Game 3, presented by the Indiana National Guard and PNC. Festivities for the event will include a free special edition playoff T-shirt for the first 2,500 fans in attendance and a post-game fireworks show to cap off the evening. The Indians will also be offering Monday Dollar Menu pricing of $1 hot dogs, peanuts, Cracker Jack, popcorn and potato chips during all home playoff contests.
