Lancaster, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino bounced back from a 15-4 defeat on Friday to thump the Lancaster JetHawks 10-4 on Saturday led by a homer from Jahmai Jones and three run, inside-the-park dash for Brandon Marsh. Jeremy Beasley (3-1) for the Sixers on the mound but the duo of Mike Kaelin and Matt Bower combined for four shutout frames to lock down Inland Empire's first win of the second half.
Jones drilled Lancaster starter Matt Dennis' (4-8) second pitch of the game out to center for his eighth homer of the season. The JeHawks answered in the bottom of the first when Colton Welker tied the game with a solo shot to left, his eighth of the year. After the JetHawks took a 2-1 lead in the third, the Sixers answered in the fourth when Franklin Navarro's RBI single tied the game and Jones' sac fly gave the Sixers a 3-2 advantage. Two batters later Brandon Marsh, drilled a ball off the wall in center and jetted around the bags for the three-run inside-the-park homer for a 6-2 lead. The JetHawks pulled within a pair in the bottom of the fourth but the Sixers piled on with three runs in the seventh on a RBI double by Jonah Todd and two-run single for DJ Jenkins. David MacKinnon added an insurance run in the top of the ninth with a RBI single to make it 10-4.
