Rancho Cucamonga, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino lost their fourth consecutive game and second of a five-game set at Rancho Cucamonga as the Quakes downed the Sixers 5-3 on Saturday. The 66ers (37-43, 4-6) took a 3-2 lead in the top of the sixth but gave up single runs to Rancho Cucamonga in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings and fell to 5-10 against the Quakes in 2018.
Rylan Bannon homered for the Quakes (43-37, 8-2) for the second straight game giving him a league-best 19 homers and Rancho a 2-0 lead in the third. The Sixers scored three times in the sixth getting a game-tying RBI single from David MacKinnon and a go-ahead RBI base-hit from DH Jefry Marte, who went 2-for-4 in his second MLB injury rehab game from the Angels. The Quakes however got a leadoff triple in the bottom of the frame against IE southpaw Matt Bower (0-1) and Cristian Santana brought him home on a groundout to tie the game. In the seventh Connor Wong doubled and scored on Jared Walker's RBI single to take a 4-3 lead. Omar Estevez' sac fly in the eighth made it 5-3. Logan Salow was credited with the win out of the pen for the Quakes and Zach Pop earned his sixth save. Jo Adell doubled for the Sixers to push his hitting streak to 12-games while Jordan Zimmerman extended his to ten. Jonah Todd had two hits for the 66ers who stranded 13 runners on base and have struck out 31 times in the first two games of the series.
