San Bernardino, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino fell on Wednesday night versus the Lancaster JetHawks 4-3 after jumping out to a 3-0 lead by the third inning. The JetHawks (31-35) sent ten men to the plate in fourth inning and scored all the club's runs for the contest earning Lancaster their second consecutive win.
The 66ers (31-35) got on the board in bottom of the first against southpaw Ty Culbreth when Jo Adell launched a solo-shot to left for his sixth homer in 21 games with Inland Empire. The homer gave the Sixers a 1-0 lead and extended the Louisville, KY native's hit-streak to nine games. In the third the 66ers struck again as Brandon Marsh tripled and came home on Adell's RBI single. Jack Kruger then doubled home Adell for a 3-0 advantage. Kruger finished the game 2-for-4 with an RBI and nabbed his 11th stolen base of the season. Adell added another single and went 3-for-4. Culbreth (2-3) settled down and cruised allowing just two baserunners after Kruger's double as the lefty went seven innings. The JetHawks answered with the big inning in the fourth getting RBI singles from Colton Welker and Willie Abreu and a two-run single from Steven Linkous. The runs were all charged to IE starter Matt Ball (1-1). Justin Lawrence tossed a clean eighth for the JetHawks in relief of Culbreth and Reid Humphreys earned his 13th save with a perfect ninth. Roberto Ramos had a three-hit game for Lancaster including a double.
