Lake Elsinore Wins Series with 5-3 Victory Over Sixers

Lake Elsinore, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino walked eight batters, three of whom came around to score, in a 5-3 loss at Lake Elsinore on Sunday. The victory gave the Storm (8-3) the a three-games-to-one series win over Inland Empire (5-6). Leonardo Rivas doubled for Inland Empire

Lake Elsinore, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino walked eight batters, three of whom came around to score, in a 5-3 loss at Lake Elsinore on Sunday. The victory gave the Storm (8-3) the a three-games-to-one series win over Inland Empire (5-6).
Leonardo Rivas doubled for Inland Empire to open the game and eventually scored on an errant pickoff by Storm starter Ronald Bolaños for a 1-0 IE lead. Orlando Martinez, who had walked and moved to second on that error was stranded at third later in the frame; a trend that would continue throughout the day as the 66ers went 0-for-13 with runners in scoring position. The Storm tied the game in the home half of the first when Luis Campusano delivered a RBI double off Sixers' starter Travis Herrin (1-1). Later in the first Campusano scored when Herrin, who knocked down a hot shot up the box, threw errantly to first scoring the Campusano for a 2-1 lead. Trailing 4-1 into the fifth the Sixers made it 4-2 on a RBI groundout by Franklin Torres and cut it to 4-3 in the sixth when Sixers' LF Kevin Williams Jr. Jr lifted a homer over the right field wall, his second of the year. The Storm however, answered back on Olivier Basabe's RBI single in the bottom of the frame to cap the scoring at 5-3. Basabe finished 1-for-1 with three walks. Evan Miller tossed two scoreless inning earning his third save for the Storm.
