Visalia, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino fell to 0-4 against the Visalia Rawhide in 2018 after falling on Tuesday 3-2 at Recreation Park. The Rawhide (25-20) walked the Sixers off with a bases loaded infield hit by Ramon Hernandez against Inland Empire reliever Max Cordy (0-1) in the ninth inning after the righty had loaded the bases with two walks and a hit batter.
The 66ers (22-23) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning when Alberto Triunfel doubled to left with one out against Visalia starter Riley Smith. Jahmai Jones then followed with a RBI single up the box. IE starter Erik Manoah Jr. started the game for Inland Empire and allowed no runs on two hits and three walks with a K but was lifted after 4.2IP and 68 pitches. Carlos Salazar finished the fifth but left before the bottom of the sixth with an apparent injury during warmups. Eduardo Rivera came in for Inland Empire and got two quick outs but fell behind 3-0 to Daulton Varsho who launched a solo shot to right and tie the game; hit was his sixth homer of the year and second against IE. The Sixers bounced back in the seventh and took a lead when Jonah Todd singled and Jordan Zimmerman doubled him home. In the bottom of the eighth however, the Rawhide tied the game on Pavin Smith's RBI single against Cordy. After Kevin Ginkel (1-1) tossed a perfect top of the ninth with two Ks, the Rawhide celebrated the win in the bottom of the frame with Hernandez' bases loaded, game-winning chopper. Jo Adell had a stolen base for the 66ers; it was the first for the Angel's 2017 first-round pick in his Cal League debut.
