Intimidators receive Sox 3rd round selection Call from Great Falls

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (July 17, 2016) - The Kannapolis Intimidators, Class A Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, have promoted All-Star outfielder Landon Lassiter to the Class A-Advanced Winston-Salem Dash. In a corresponding move, Kannapolis receives outfielder Alex Call, the White Sox third round pick from this June's First-Year Player Draft, from Advanced Rookie Great Falls. 

Lassiter, 23, appeared in 77 games for Kannapolis, batting a team-best .283 (81-286) with 13 doubles, a triple, two home runs, 24 RBI, 35 runs scored, and nine stolen bases. This season, he was one of four Intimidators selected to the 57th Annual South Atlantic League All-Star Game. The High Point, N.C., native posted a .370 on-base percentage, which also led the Intimidators. The White Sox selected Lassiter in the 21st round of the June 2015 First-Year Player Draft out of UNC where he hit .324 in his career. Lassiter made his professional debut in 2015 with the Great Falls Voyagers, batting .312, which tied for eight-best in the Pioneer League, while also leading the team in walks (30) and on-base percentage (.420).

Lassiter is the 13th Intimidators player to earn a promotion to Winston-Salem this season, joining Sean O'Connell (April 21), Louis Silverio (April 26), Danny Mendick (April 26 and June 27), Grant Massey (April 29), Cleuluis Rondon (May 8), Michael Suiter (May 24), Daniel Gonzalez (May 26), Tanner Banks (June 8), Ryan Riga (June 23), Yelmison Peralta (July 5), Drew Hasler (July 7), and fellow All-Star Zach Thompson (July 11).

Call, 21, began his professional career with the Voyagers, batting .308 (33-107) with three doubles, a triple, three home runs, and 17 RBI in 27 games in the Pioneer League. Call leads the PL in walks (19), is tied for the league lead in games played and ranks tied for third in at-bats. The White Sox selected Call in the third round of the June 2016 First-Year Player Draft out of Ball State where he was named the MAC Player of the Year while also making the conference All-Defensive team.

The Intimidators continue their current home stand Sunday with a doubleheader against the Greensboro Grasshoppers beginning at 3:05 p.m. comprising two 7-inning games.
