For the third straight year, the Kannapolis Intimidators, Class A Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, held our National Anthem Tryouts at Concord Mills, inviting aspiring singers to take the stage for a chance to perform the Star Spangled Banner at CMC-NorthEast Stadium before an Intimidators game this season.

Over the course of an hour, around 35 singers took the mic to perform the song of their choice for our judges.  This year's pool of potential Anthem singers may be one of our best yet, as everyone who sang this year impressed our judges enough to earn an invite to perform at an Intimidators game this year, with the best singers having an opportunity to perform multiple times, including on fireworks nights, in 2013.

The youngest singer interested in performing the National Anthem, a 5-year-old girl, impressed the crowds at Concord Mills with her rendition of the Star Spangled Banner, after telling our host that she was "not nervous at all."  With many new faces, as well as a few returning stand outs, the Intimidators will have a lot of fantastic options when selecting performers before all 70 home games this season.

The Intimidators would like to wish a special thanks to all of those who sang this year as well as a to Concord Mills for once again serving as an outstanding host for the event.  Singers will be contacted over the next two weeks as we begin booking dates for April and May.  For anyone who was unable to attend Saturday's tryout, simply email an .mp3 of yourself singing the National Anthem to or you can sing over the phone to our promotions staff at (704) 932-3267.

Opening Day 2013 will be Thursday, April 11, at 7:05 p.m. as the Kannapolis Intimidators host the Hickory Crawdads (Texas Rangers) at CMC-NorthEast Stadium.  Single-game tickets go on sale soon!
