KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (March 11, 2012) - The Kannapolis Intimidators, Class A Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, have released the team's 2013 promotional calendar, which includes nine post-game fireworks shows, a Courtney Hawkins youth jersey giveaway (June 1) and the team's first ever Turn Back The Clock to 1999 with a Salute To The Piedmont Boll Weevils (July 13). The team's 19th season of professional baseball in Kannapolis opens on Thursday, April 11, against the Hickory Crawdads at 7:05 p.m. The complete promotions schedule is available online at IntimidatorsBaseball.com.
The Intimidators will host a pair of Independence Day celebrations and fireworks displays this season. The festivities begin the Saturday before the Fourth of July with post-game fireworks on June 29, and conclude in the home stand finale on Wednesday, July 3 with an All-American Celebration and post-game fireworks show. Wear your red, white and blue and celebrate America's 237th birthday with the Intimidators.
When we "Turn Back The Clock To 1999" on July 13, the Intimidators will take the field in throw-back Piedmont Boll Weevil uniforms, a nod to the team's nickname from 1996-2000. Boll Weevil logo hats will be available in the Intimidation Station, or the old "Weevil Warehouse" as it was known prior to the 2001 campaign. The evening will also feature popular songs from 1999, and fans are encouraged to wear Boll Weevils shirts and hats.
Fans can enjoy several giveaway nights, highlighted by a special Courtney Hawkins #12 jersey giveaway on Saturday, June 1, to the first 1,000 kids 12 and under. Hawkins, the White Sox top selection and 13th overall pick in the June 2012 draft, spent part of last season with the Intimidators and is rated the organization's top prospect entering 2013. The jersey giveaway is presented by CMC-NorthEast. Team Photo Giveaway Night presented by Kannapolis Parks & Recreation will be Sunday, May 19, for the first 1,000 fans. Fans will be able to get their team pictures signed by members of the Intimidators during a special pre-game on-field autograph party. The Intimidators are giving away Magnet Schedules presented by Pizza Hut to the first 1,000 fans on Opening Night, April 11, as well as Friday, April 12 and Sunday, April 14.
The Intimidators will host four day-games this season, including a pair of Education Day games presented by CMC-NorthEast with 10:05 a.m. first pitches on Wednesday, April 17, and Wednesday, May 22. Tickets are only $3 per student, and teachers are requested to make reservations in advance. Camp Day will be on Wednesday, July 31, with a 12:05 p.m. first pitch and $3 tickets for camps that reserve in advance. The Intimidators will wrap up the 2013 regular season at home on Monday, Sept. 2 at 1:05 p.m., with our annual Labor Day Picnic, featuring all-you-can-eat picnic-style fare for only $10.
With 70 home games at CMC-NorthEast Stadium in 2013, the Intimidators have a full slate of fun on tap this season, including fan-favorite weekly promotions. Kid's Day Sundays will feature all kids tickets for only $5 for the second straight year, presented by Dentistry of the Carolinas. Kids can enjoy fun-filled promotions all game long, including pre-game player autographs and post-game kids run the bases.
Belly Buster Monday, presented this season by HMS Host, features an all-you-can-eat special for only $10 (excludes drinks, candy and third-party vendors). All 10 Tuesday home games will be Two-for-Tuesday with 2-for-1 tickets and other 2-for-1 deals presented by Arby's. Fans can bring any Arby's proof of purchase to the F&M Bank Box Office for 2-for-1 tickets.
ACN Charity Spotlight Night will showcase a different local charity each Wednesday evening, with the Intimidators donating 75-cents per walk up ticket to the charity of the night. Wednesday nights will also include a new special, the Harris Teeter 4 for $40 Family Night promotion, which includes four tickets, four hot dogs and four sodas for only $40 when you show your Harris Teeter VIC card at the Box Office.
Parched patrons will enjoy 11 Thirsty Thursday games with discounted beverages, including the return of the "Buy Your Cup" promotion with 24 oz. refills for only $2. This year, Thursday night games will also feature Trivia Night, where fans will have the opportunity to answer trivia questions to win prizes throughout the game.
