KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (June 13, 2017) -- Infielder Mitch Roman has been named to the 58th Annual South Atlantic League All-Star Game, becoming the sixth member of the Kannapolis Intimidators to be selected to the circuit's mid-summer classic. Roman replaces injured Hagerstown Suns shortstop Carter Kieboom on the Northern Division squad that will face the Southern Division on Tuesday, June 20, at Spirit Communications Park in Columbia, S.C.

Roman, 22, is batting .276 (64-232) with seven doubles, one triple, one home run, 16 RBI, and 24 runs scored in 59 games through June 12. He enters the final week of the First Half ranking fifth in the league in both games played (59) and at-bats (232). The White Sox 12th round pick from the June 2016 First-Year Player Draft, Roman has punished left-handed pitching this season, batting .329 (23-70) against southpaws compared to .253 (41-162) against right-handers. He began the season as one of the South Atlantic League's top hitters, batting .350 (28-80) in 22 games in April.

The Intimidators now boast six All-Stars as Roman joins outfielder Joel Booker, catcher Seby Zavala, starting pitchers Alec Hansen and Jimmy Lambert, and closer Mike Morrison representing Kannapolis in the league showcase.
