Cubs Recall Brian Schlitter

Colorado Springs - The Chicago Cubs placed RH Jose Veras on the disabled list on Saturday and recalled RH Brian Schlitter from the Iowa Cubs. Iowa's active roster now stands at 24 players.

Schlitter opened the season in Chicago, but was optioned to Iowa on April 12. In four appearances with the I-Cubs this season, Schlitter was 3-for-3 in saves and allowed two runs on six hits in five innings for a 3.60 ERA. Schlitter is second on Iowa's career saves list with 35. RH Blake Parker holds the record and earned his 43rd in Saturday's win at Colorado Springs. The Cubs originally acquired Schlitter from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for LH Scott Eyre on August 7, 2008. The Chicago-are native also spent time in the big leagues with Chicago in 2010.

The I-Cubs have won a season-high five straight games and wrap up a series in Colorado Springs on Sunday afternoon. LH Eric Jokisch (1-1, 3.65) will start for the Cubs against RH Christian Bergman (2-1, 6.45) for the Sky Sox. The game starts at 2:35 Central time and will be broadcast live on AM 940, and streamed live at iowacubs.com, with the On-Deck Circle Pre-Game Show starting at 2:15.
