LAS VEGAS, NV - The Iowa Cubs (18-21) locked a 3-1 series win, defeating the Las Vegas 51s (16-25) 6-5, Thursday at Cashman Field. The 51s out-hit the I-Cubs 13-7 but Iowa prevailed, winning its' third straight game to match a season-best win streak.

Iowa took a 2-1 edge in the first inning that would hold until the seventh when the 51s' offense heated. Las Vegas pounced on Félix Peña, hitting the right-hander for four runs on five hits and a walk as the home team sent all nine batters to the plate.
The I-Cubs weren't phased by the 5-2 deficit. Iowa responded immediately, duplicating the effort with four runs of its' own in the top of the eighth. The first three batters of the inning reached to load the bases. Ozzie Martinez, pinch-hitting for Pena, came through with a single to center to bring in the first run of the inning. Victor Caratini, Taylor Davis and Stephen Bruno kept the scoring drive alive as each drove in a run and Iowa reclaimed the lead in a hurry.
Seth Frankoff gave Iowa another strong outing, allowing one run over 5.1 innings while adding seven strikeouts. The righty boasts a 2.82 ERA (7ER/22.1IP) through his last four starts. Pena (1-0) took his first win of the season and Justin Grimm grabbed his second save in as many outings.
Iowa is back for Firework Friday at Principal Park tomorrow, beginning a series with Tacoma at 7:08 p.m. The eight-game homestand features a Superhero Cape Giveaway for the kids on Sunday, May 21, as well as Dog Days and Dollar Dogs on Tuesday, May 23.
