PAPILLION, NE - The Iowa Cubs (56-61) couldn't work back from an early deficit as the Omaha Storm Chasers (56-63) claimed a 5-2 victory, Saturday at Werner Park

A bases-loaded double from Frank Schwindel brought in three for the Storm Chasers in the first inning and the home team kept the lead throughout. Right-hander Williams Pérez had a tough start to his night, allowing five earned runs through the first two frames. He settled down from there, but the damage was done and his outing ended after four. He took the loss, his first since June 9, to fall to 5-8 on the season.
With the help of a strong start from Andres Machado (1-1), Iowa was held to just five hits in the game. The I-Cubs only scoring came on solo shots from Bijan Rademacher and Chris Dominguez in the second and seventh innings, respectively. Taylor Davis, Mike Freeman and Chesny Young added singles to round out the offense.
Iowa's bullpen was lights-out as Félix Peña stepped up, spinning three shutout frames with one hit, one walk and three strikeouts. Jack Leathersich took the eighth and retired the side in order on strikes.
LHP Rob Zastryzny (1-1) gets the ball tomorrow in game three of the set at 2:05 p.m. in Omaha. Follow the action on AM 940 or www.iowacubs.com.
