Rusin Named to PCL All-Star Team

Des Moines, IA - Iowa Cubs LHP Chris Rusin was named to the Pacific Coast League All-Star Team today. Rusin is one of 12 pitchers selected to compete as the PCL takes on the International League All-Star team in the Triple-A All-Star Game on Wednesday, July 17 at Aces Ballpark in Reno, Nevada.

Rusin is 7-7 with a 3.27 ERA in 17 games (16 starts) with Iowa this season. In 110.0 innings, he has allowed 42 runs (40 earned) on 99 hits, walked 22, and struck out 63. He leads the league in innings pitched and a 1.10 WHIP (walks plus hits per innings pitched). He is tied for fourth in the league in opponents' batting average (.241) and ranks fifth in ERA. Among starting pitchers, Rusin is second in the league in lowest walks per nine innings ratio (1.89) and fewest base runners per nine innings (10.37).

The Cubs drafted Rusin in the fourth round of the 2009 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Kentucky. He made his triple-A debut with Iowa in 2011 and over the last three season is 20-18 with a 4.00 ERA (139ER/313.0IP) in 51 games (48 starts).

The 26th annual Triple-A All-Star Game will be broadcast live on MLB Network, the American Forces Network, and the Triple-A All-Star Game Radio Network - which includes Iowa Cubs flagship station AM 940 KPSZ in Des Moines.
