The Missions rallied in the fifth to catapult to a 4-1 lead after they were shut out through four.
Tyron Taylor padded the San Antonio edge on a two-run blast to left in the ninth before Iowa responded with its own signs of life.
Miller's line was hurt by the Missions' big fifth inning as he was tagged with four earned runs through 5.0 innings. The righty allowed five hits, walked two and fanned five in the setback.
