DES MOINES, IA - Travis Shaw batted in six with a pair of three-run blasts to drive the San Antonio Missions (75-53) to a 9-4 triumph over the Iowa Cubs (68-60), Wednesday at Principal Park.

Iowa spoiled a scoreless game in the third inning, taking advantage of an error to score Tyson Miller from third after the starting pitcher recorded his first professional hit. The I-Cubs were then held off the board until the ninth as San Antonio took control of the game.
The Missions rallied in the fifth to catapult to a 4-1 lead after they were shut out through four. Nate Orf scored on a Cory Spangenberg double, before a walk set up a three-run home run for Shaw. Shaw continued to plague the I-Cubs as the third baseman hit his second three-run blast of the night to give the Missions a 7-1 edge in the seventh.
Tyron Taylor padded the San Antonio edge on a two-run blast to left in the ninth before Iowa responded with its own signs of life. Robel Garcia clubbed a three-run bomb to shrink the gap, but Iowa was unable to make up the difference.
Miller's line was hurt by the Missions' big fifth inning as he was tagged with four earned runs through 5.0 innings. The righty allowed five hits, walked two and fanned five in the setback.
POSTGAME NOTES:
David Bote went 1-for-3 with one walk and two strikeouts in his first 2019 game with Iowa. He was the only I-Cub to reach base more than once.
• Robel Garcia batted in three for his fifth contest this season with three or more RBI in a game.
Iowa and San Antonio finish the series with a 12:08 p.m. first pitch Thursday at Principal Park. For more information and tickets, visit www.iowacubs.com.
