DES MOINES, IA - Iowa (15-27) out-hit Round Rock (18-27) 10-8 and took advantage of four Express errors to capture a 6-5 victory Monday at Dell Diamond. In his 2018 I-Cubs debut, outfielder Lane Adams was key to Iowa's effort tonight, going 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.

Iowa captured the first lead in the third as Adams roped a single to left. Adams took third on an error and found home on a sacrifice fly from Mark Zagunis.
The I-Cubs and the Express traded runs and leads through the next two frames before Iowa rallied for four runs in the fifth to leap ahead 5-2. A two-RBI double from Adams began the brigade, followed by RBI singles from Mike Freeman and Efren Navarro.
Iowa let Round Rock stay in the game as the home team got a pair of runs on two hits in the sixth to stay within a run. Both runs scored on wild pitches from Alberto Baldonado. Baldonado bounced back to strike out the side in the seventh and Shae Simmons followed with a scoreless frame out of the bullpen
Two I-Cubs insurance runs in the ninth would prove necessary as Round Rock battled back with a run in the bottom of the inning. Dillon Maples labored through the ninth, but was able to shut the door in time.
Alec Mills (2-4) took the win, allowing two earned runs on four hits and four walks. Maples (3) captured the save.
The series continues tomorrow with a 7:05 first pitch at Dell Diamond. Follow the action on AM 940 or www.iowacubs.com.
