Aberdeen Manages One Hit in 1-0 Loss to Muckdogs

Batavia, NY- The Aberdeen IronBirds lost 1-0 to the Batavia Muckdogs on a walk-off hit from Felix Munoz. Aberdeen falls to 26-23 on the season.

The Muckdogs got a career outing from starting pitcher Ryan Newell. Newell held the IronBirds hitless for eight innings before Hector Veloz led off the ninth with a single to left field.

Through the first six innings, the two teams combined for a total of three base runners. Mike Yastrzemski reached on an error in the first, Carlos Lopez singled for Batavia in the second, and Veloz walked in the sixth.

The Muckdogs threatened with two on and two out in the seventh, but Mitch Horacek induced a fly out from Austin Dean to end the inning.

Horacek threw eight innings, allowing three hits, no runs, and striking out one. He did not walk a batter.

In the ninth, Batavia would win the game off of reliever Jimmy Yacabonis. Justin Bohn hit a leadoff single. JT Riddle sacrificed him over to second. After a Romero ground out, Felix Munoz hit the game winner to left center, scoring Bohn easily.

RHP Dylan Rheault will get the start for the IronBirds tomorrow afternoon. He will go up against RHP Domingo German. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
