Danny Mays Expands Role as "The Voice" of the Aberdeen IronBirds to In-Game Emcee and Public Address Announcer

Mays to lead IronBirds in-game entertainment "Flight Crew"; summer internship opportunities now available

Aberdeen, Md. - May 19, 2016

The Aberdeen IronBirds, Class A short-season affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, today announced Danny Mays will grow his role as "the voice" of Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium to also serve as its in-game emcee, in addition to his role as public address announcer. Mays will work alongside IronBirds to develop engaging promotions and in-game entertainment, while continuing to showcase the IronBirds family fun atmosphere.

"I'm thrilled to have an opportunity to expand my role within the IronBirds organization and become more entrenched in the team's operations," said Mays. "My goal is to utilize this unique dual role to continue to create memorable game day experiences for fans of all ages. Together, with the IronBirds Flight Crew, we aim to provide the ultimate family friendly entertainment that keeps fans coming back for more."

As the in-game emcee for the IronBirds, Mays will be responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of creative content, as well as continuing to provide voice work for in-stadium opportunities, external TV and radio campaigns. Mays will also lead the "Flight Crew" in creation and execution of on-field and in-stadium contests and promotions. Game Entertainment internships are available now; college students can apply at www.IronBirdsBaseball.com.

In 2013, Mays was named "The Voice" of Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium following a month-long, social media contest. As part of the competition, Mays and the other finalists performed live in front of a panel during the IronBirds' annual IronFest pre-season event. Off the field, Mays is a Senior Purchasing Agent for Towson University. His entertainment background includes time spent as a bassist and vocalist for Baltimore-based 90s tribute act "Here's to the Night," as well as a ring announcer for MCW Pro Wrestling.

The IronBirds open their season on June 17 on the road against the Hudson Valley Renegades and the Staten Island Yankees. Opening Night at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium is set for Wednesday, June 22 at 7:05 p.m. against the Auburn Doubledays. Season seat memberships and group outings are available by calling an IronBirds representative at 410-297-9292.
