IronBirds Streak Snapped in 9-2 Loss

July 13, 2013

Aberdeen, MD- The IronBirds saw their three-game win streak snapped at the hands of the Williamsport Crosscutters, 9-2. Gabriel Lino led the Crosscutters offense going 2 for 4 with three runs batted in.

Williamsport (14-11) busted the game open with six runs in the eighth to put the game out of reach for Aberdeen (14-11). Lino's single and Justin Parr's double plated two runs each in the Crosscutters' decisive inning.

The Crosscutters jumped ahead in the sixth 3-2. Dylan Cozens' sacrifice fly plated Parr and Zach Green laced a single to left to score Jiandido Tromp.

Sebastian Vader started for Aberdeen and was somewhat of a tough luck loser. He retired eight of the first nine batters he faced and only faced the minimum through four innings thanks. He pitched 5.2 innings giving up three runs on five hits with five strikeouts.

Jared Breen wasted no time to extend his hit streak to 15 games. He lined the first pitch down the right field line and coasted into second base easily.

Conor Bierfeldt blasted a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the fifth which put the IronBirds back in the lead at the time.

The Crosscutters added a fourth on Cozens' second sacrifice fly of the night to get the scoring started in the eighth inning. Logan Pierce also scored in the frame on a wild pitch between Lino and Parr's 2-RBI knocks.

Game 2 of this three game set is tomorrow at 5:35. Janser Severino will get the start for the IronBirds. He is scheduled to go head to head with right-hander Jon Prosinski.
