Machado Named to MLB All-Star Game

Christian Walker added to All-Stars Futures roster

New York- Former Aberdeen IronBird Manny Machado has become the first former IronBirds' player named to a Major League Baseball All-Star roster. The rosters for the 2013 Major League Baseball All-Star Game, to be played July 16th at Citi Field in Queens, New York, were announced this evening. Machado joins teammates Chris Davis, J.J. Hardy, and Adam Jones.

Machado played for Aberdeen in 2010, appearing in seven games with the Orioles' Short Season- Class A affiliate. In 29 at-bats, he had ten hits, including a double and a triple. He also had three RBIs and two runs scored, earning a .345 batting average.

It was also announced this evening that former IronBird Christian Walker was added to the All-Stars Future Game. Walker played for Aberdeen in 2012. In 22 games, Walker had 23 hits, including five doubles and two home runs, helping him to a .284 batting average as a member of the IronBirds.
