Aberdeen, MD - The Baltimore Orioles announced today that Aberdeen IronBirds' Outfielder Mike Yastrzemski has been named the Orioles' Minor League Offensive Player of the Month for July, 2013.

In July, Yastrzemski batted .344 and collected 12 RBIs. In 26 games played, he collected 31 hits, including eight doubles, two triples, and his first two professional home runs. He helped the IronBirds go 15-13 in the month of July, getting the IronBirds in position to make a run at their first playoff berth in franchise history.

Yastrzemski, drafted by the Orioles in the 14th round of this year's draft out of Vanderbilt, has seen time at all three outfield positions for the IronBirds this season and has been seen most often at the top of the batting order.

"It is a great tribute to all that he has brought to our ball club," said IronBirds' Manager Matt Merullo. "With his bat control and his ability to hit with two strikes, he has put together quality at bats one pitch at a time. He shows great focus. He is very steady, and he is a big reason why we are winning games."
