Baxter and Dominguez Join Isotopes

April 11, 2014

Right-handed pitcher Jose Dominguez returns to the Albuquerque Isotopes today, April 11, after being optioned by the Los Angeles Dodgers Wednesday, April 9. Outfielder Mike Baxter has also joined the Isotopes today after being outrighted by the Dodgers on April 9. In corresponding moves, right-handed pitcher Steve Smith has been placed on the disabled list with a left oblique strain and Brian Cavazos-Galvez has been sent to Double-A Chattanooga.

Dominguez began the season on the 'Topes roster but was called up to the Los Angeles Dodgers on April 3 and recorded three relief appearances, holding opponents to a .182 batting average (2-for-11).

Smith appeared in two games for Albuquerque this season, logging a total of three innings. His best outing came against Reno on April 8 when he gave up just a single run on one hit in 1.2 innings.

Cavazos-Galvez appeared in 10 games and scored the go-ahead run against Reno in the top of the ninth inning of a 4-3 win on April 8. The former University of New Mexico Lobo laid down a bunt single to lead off the inning and later scored on a Walter Ibarra single.

The Isotopes are set to play their Home Opener tonight, April 11, against the Tacoma Rainiers at 7:05 p.m. MT. Josh Suchon will have the call on 610 The Sports Animal and 1400 ESPN Santa Fe.
