Bundy Named Dodgers Third Base Coach

The Los Angeles Dodgers announced their 2014 coaching staff today, naming Albuquerque Isotopes manager from 2011-2013, Lorenzo Bundy as the club's third base coach.

Bundy joins the Dodgers' Major League staff after managing Albuquerque since 2011. Named Pacific Coast League Manager of the Year in 2012, Bundy led the Isotopes to a PCL American Southern Division Championship, the most home wins in a single season with 48 and tied a franchise record with 80 wins that season. With Bundy at the helm, Albuquerque went 225-206 (.522) over the last three seasons.

The most recent Isotopes manager will replace another former Albuquerque skipper in the Dodgers' third base coaching box. Albuquerque Isotopes manager from 2009-2010, Tim Wallach will move from third base coach to begin his first season as the Los Angeles bench coach in 2014.

Overall, Bundy, 54, has managed 12 seasons in the minors with the Expos (1990-94), Marlins (1997) and Dodger organizations (2007-08, 2010-2013). The upcoming season will mark his fourth time on a big league coaching staff after working as the Marlins' bench coach (1998), the Rockies' bullpen coach (1999) and the Diamondbacks' first base coach (2009). Bundy was originally selected in the 22nd round of the 1977 draft by the Baltimore Orioles. He played eight professional seasons from 1981-89 with stints in the Texas, Pittsburgh and Montreal organizations in addition to playing in the Mexican League. Bundy is also a veteran of the Mexican Pacific League, where he has managed every winter since 1991.
