April 8, 2014

Catcher John Cannon joined the Albuquerque Isotopes this afternoon, April 8, after catcher Tim Federowicz was recalled by the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Cannon spent the 2012 and 2013 seasons between the Rookie-level Arizona League Dodgers and the High-A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. He hit a combined .239 with one home run, one triple, four doubles and 11 RBIs. The 23-year-old Houston, Texas, native was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the 29th round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Houston.

Federowicz saw action in the 'Topes season opener April 4, going hitless in two at-bats with one walk. The 26-year-old backstop was added to Los Angeles' active roster in place of an injured A.J. Ellis and has previously seen time with the Dodgers in each of the last three seasons, including 56 games last year. He owns a career .227 Major League batting average with four home runs, eight doubles and 17 RBIs.
