Dodgers Recall Herrera

The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled utility-man Elian Herrera today, July 25. Herrera will be making his third stint of the 2013 season with the Dodgers.

He is hitting .286 (2-for-7) in three Major League games this season and has started two contests in left field. His last start for the Dodgers came against San Diego on June 21. He made his Major League debut against Arizona on May 15, 2012. Herrera has been a versatile fielder in his career, appearing in games at second base (13), third base (20), shortstop (2) and all three outfield positions (40).

The 28-year-old Dominican has played in 80 games for the Isotopes this year. He is hitting .290 (9-for-307) with nine doubles, six homers, 14 stolen bases and 40 RBI. He also leads the 2013 Isotopes with 27 multi-hit games.  

Albuquerque completes a four-game road trip against the Nashville Sounds tonight at 6:05 PM MDT. Southpaw Rob Rasmussen (0-4, 5.74) is slated to take the hill for the Isotopes against Nashville's Johnny Hellweg (8-4, 2.61) in the series finale. The Isotopes return home tomorrow to open a four-game homestand with the New Orleans Zephyrs. All the action can be heard on 610 "The Sports Animal" with Josh Suchon on the call.
