Dominguez and Ricardo Join Isotopes

Magill Recalled by Los Angeles and Towles Goes on DL
June 9, 2013

In part of four moves today, June 9, righty Matt Magill was recalled by the Dodgers and catcher J.R. Towles went on the disabled list with a left thumb sprain. In corresponding moves, right-handed pitcher Jose Dominguez and catcher Dashenko Ricardo both joined Albuquerque from Double-A Chattanooga.

Ricardo was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Baltimore Orioles in 2007. The 23-year-old backstop signed a Minor League contract with the Dodgers on March 17, 2013 and has seen action with Chattanooga and Single-A Great Lakes this season. He has played a combined 29 games between the two clubs hitting .207 (19-for-92) with a homer and 10 RBI and has tossed out eight out of 31 potential base stealers (26%). This is the Dutchman's first stint in Triple-A.

Dominguez was signed by the Dodgers as a non-drafted free agent on July 2, 2007. This is the right hander's first time in Triple-A. He appeared in 14 games this season for Chattanooga converting five of seven save opportunities and carried a 2.60 ERA (5 ER/17.1 IP). The Dominican native did not allowed a run in his last six appearances (seven innings) with the Lookouts and only surrendered two hits during that stretch.

Magill is making his third stint with the Dodgers in 2013 after rejoining the Isotopes on June 5. He opened the season with Albuquerque making his first appearance in Triple-A and the Major Leagues this year. The California native won his first Triple-A game his last time out on May 25 in five overall starts for the Isotopes. He holds a 2.16 ERA (6 ER/25.0 IP) with 31 strikeouts. The 23-year-old is 0-1 with a 6.38 ERA (17 ER/24.0 IP) in five starts with the Dodgers making his Major League debut on April 27 against Milwaukee.

Towles went on the DL after joining Albuquerque on May 20. He signed with the Dodgers as a free agent on May 29 and has started four games as the Isotopes backstop. The Texas native is hitting .200 (3-for-15) with a home run and has tossed out one of three potential base stealers (33%).

The Isotopes conclude the first stretch of their road trip today at 1:00 PM against the New Orleans Zephyrs. Righty Red Patterson (2-1, 4.86) gets the start for Albuquerque and New Orleans has yet to announce a starter. The Isotopes then travel to Round Rock for a four-game set before returning home on Friday, June 14 to take on Memphis. Catch all of the action on 610 AM "The Sports Animal" with Josh Suchon on the call.
