Isotopes Drop Series Opener 6-3 At Oklahoma City

NEED TO KNOW: Opening their final road series of the season, the Albuquerque Isotopes (59-76) dropped a 6-3 decision to the Oklahoma City RedHawks (71-66) at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark Sunday night.

PLAYING CATCH UP: The RedHawks jumped out to a three-run lead in the second inning and added another run to make it 4-0 in the fourth. The Isotopes responded with three runs in the fifth when Trayvon Robinson tripled in Mike Baxter and Carlos Triunfel. Robinson would later score on a Joc Pederson single to cut it to 4-3, but that was all the offense the Topes could muster. Oklahoma City plated another run in the fifth before tacking on another in the seventh to push their lead to 6-3.

A CLEAR 30-30 VISION: A night after becoming the first 30-30 player in the Pacific Coast League in 80 years, Joc Pederson drove in his 74th run of the year with an RBI-single in the fifth inning. He finished the game 1-for-4 with an RBI and a walk. In his last 16 games, Pederson is batting .302 (19-for-63) with 23 runs scored, a double, eight homers, 16 RBI and 17 walks.

TRAYVON TRIPLES: Trayvon Robinson plated the first runs of the game for Albuquerque when he tripled in Mike Baxter and Carlos Triunfel in the fifth inning. He finished the game 2-for-4 with a triple, a double, a run scored and two RBI. It was his second triple of the season and 22nd double. In his last three starts, Robinson is now batting .455 (5-for-11) with five runs scored, a double, a triple, two RBI and a walk.

ON DECK: The Isotopes and RedHawks will play game two of their four-game series Monday night at 6:05 p.m. Right-hander Matt Magill (7-5, 4.98 ERA), while Oklahoma City is scheduled to go with righty Asher Wojciechowski (3-4, 4.09 ERA).

IN THE HOLE: After their final road trip of the season, Albuquerque will return home to conclude the 2014 season with a four-game, five-day series against the Las Vegas 51s.
