Isotopes Open Road Trip With 6-2 Win Against Las Vegas

NEED TO KNOW: The Albuquerque Isotopes (55-64) dealt the Pacific Southern Division-leading Las Vegas 51s (66-54) a 6-2 defeat in the opening game of a five-game series Thursday night at Cashman Field in Las Vegas, NV.

CONSISTENT SCORING: Jamie Romak singled in Brock Peterson to put the Isotopes on the board in the second inning. Peterson then doubled in a pair runs with two outs in the third inning to expand Albuquerque's lead to 3-0 before Las Vegas responded with two runs of their own in the fourth inning. The Isotopes would go on to post single tallies in the fifth, seventh and ninth innings to secure the victory.

C. ROB HIT: Clint Robinson clocked his 15th home run of the season to left field in the seventh inning and finished the evening 3-for-4 with one run scored, one RBI and a walk. In his last five games, Robinson is now batting .381 (8-for-21) with four runs scored, one double, two triples, one home run and three RBI.

RAKING ROMAK: After smashing a pair of home runs Tuesday night, Jamie Romak posted a 2-for-4 outing with an RBI on Thursday. Since the Dodgers outright­ed him to the Minors in late June, Romak has 35 RBI in 37 games, along with eight homers, one triple, and 10 doubles.

STREAKY BAXTER: Mike Baxter extended his hitting streak to a team active best 12 games with his 2-for-4 performance, including a double. During his current 12-game streak, Baxter is hitting .400 (18-for-45) with nine runs scored, six doubles, one home run, six RBI and a walk.

MULTI-HITS TO GO AROUND: Along with Clint Robinson, Jamie Romak and Mike Baxter, the Isotopes had three other players post multi-hit games. Tim Federowicz turned in a 2-for-5 showing with a double, a run scored and an RBI. Brock Peterson notched a 3-for-4 evening with a double, a run scored, three RBI and a walk, while Alex Guerrero was also 2-for-5.

ON DECK: The Isotopes and 51s will play game two of their five-game series Friday night at 8:05 p.m. Right-hander Barry Enright (0-2, 8.18 ERA) will take the bump for Albuquerque, while Las Vegas will go with lefty John Lannan (1-1, 4.26 ERA).

IN THE HOLE: Following their five-game series in Las Vegas, the Isotopes return home on for an eight-game homestand beginning with a four-game series against the Memphis Redbirds on Aug. 12 at. 6:35 p.m.
