Joc Pederson Tabbed PCL Rookie Of The Year

Another day, another recognition for Albuquerque Isotopes outfielder Joc Pederson. Tuesday morning the Pacific Coast League announced he has been named the league's Rookie of the Year, as voted on by the field managers and media representatives

The Rookie of the Year award is just the latest in Pederson's trophy case this season. On Monday he was named to the All-PCL Team, just two days after becoming the first member of the league's "30-30 Club" in 80 years.

The Los Angeles Dodgers' top-overall prospect according to Baseball America stole his 30th base Saturday night to join the prestigious club. He is the first 30-30 player in the PCL since Frank Demaree in 1934. Pederson currently has 32 homers and 30 stolen bases.

Pederson leads the PCL in home runs (32), on-base percentage (.432), runs scored (99), total bases (247) and walks (95). His .580 slugging percentage currently ranks third in the league. The outfielder's 95 walks are an Isotopes single-season record, while his 99 runs scored are just one shy of the single-season mark.

The Dodgers selected the Palo Alto High School product in the 11th round of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft. Pederson boasts a .301 average, 85 home runs, and 113 stolen bases over five Minor League seasons. This year he was selected to the PCL's starting outfield for the Triple-A All-Star game in July, where he homered in his third at-bat of the game.

The 22-year-old becomes the first Isotope to ever be named the Rookie of the Year, as well as the first player in Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate history to receive the recognition.

Pederson was elected Rookie of the Year over Nick Ahmed (Reno), Arismendy Alcantara (Iowa), Javier Baez (Iowa), Kris Bryant (Iowa), Adam Duvall (Fresno) and Chris Taylor (Tacoma), who all also received votes for the award.
