Josh Suchon Named New "Voice" of Isotopes

March 6, 2013

Josh Suchon (pronounced "sue-shawn") has been hired as the Albuquerque Isotopes' Radio Broadcaster, the Triple-A partner of the Los Angeles Dodgers announced today.  The co-host of Dodgers Talk radio show on the Dodgers Radio Network from 2008-2011 will become the third play-by-play broadcaster in Isotopes history when he steps in the booth this season.

Suchon, 39, studied radio and television journalism at San Diego State University and has called Los Angeles Dodgers Spring Training games on Prime Ticket television and the Dodgers Radio Network. The former Modesto Nuts and Watertown Indians play-by-play broadcaster also worked as the Oakland Athletics and San Francisco Giants beat writer for The Oakland Tribune from 2000-06. Along with baseball, the California native has also spent time behind the microphone as a college and high school basketball play-by-play broadcaster on ESPNU and ESPN3.

"We are thrilled to have a broadcaster of Josh's caliber calling Isotopes games," Isotopes General Manager John Traub said. "He brings an enthusiastic and knowledgeable voice to our broadcasts and is truly a Major League announcer.  He is well-liked within the Dodgers organization and his diverse background will certainly be a bonus to calling our games."

Author of "The Gracious Season: Barry Bonds & the Greatest Year in Baseball," which highlights Bonds' 73 home run season, Suchon's second book is set to be on bookshelves this Spring. His upcoming novel, entitled "Miracle Men: Gibson, Hershiser and the Improbable 1988 Dodgers," delves into the last Dodgers World Championship team.

Suchon's first broadcast will be Opening Night, April 4 at 6:35 pm MT on 610 The Sports Animal. All 144 Isotopes games are broadcast by Cumulus Radio and can be streamed live on MiLB.tv.
